May marks milestone for The Dam Cafe - 15 years of operation for owners Jen and Glenn Campbell

Jen and Glenn Campbell bought The Dam Cafe 15 years ago this month, and have turned it into one of Tahoe City's favorite breakfast and lunch spots. Regulars show up daily year round to enjoy the wonderful food and fresh coffee while they connect with friends and neighbors. Visitors stop in as they pass through the busy intersection, attracted by the darling cabin-like exterior, the crowds that are common here, or because of the reputation of the cafe that leads to constant referral business.

Their espresso drinks are made with Illy beans from Italy, which many say are the best in the world. Lattes, Mochas and Cappuccino are a few of the offerings.

Located at the intersection of Highways 89 and 28, it is just across the street from the Dam at Fanny Bridge and the adjacent museum, also popular tourist destinations. This is where the Truckee River begins, and with the abundant precipitation this year, the river will be running beginning in June and throughout the summer, bringing an onslaught of hungry rafters.

The food at the cafe is always made to order from fresh and high quality ingredients. The Campbell's pride themselves on this, as well as friendly and caring customer service that is a special part of the charm here. As they like to say, the first ingredient is love. A few crowd pleasers you may want to try:  The Dam Bacon Burly, a large tortilla stuffed with bacon, fresh veggies, Cuban rice and beans, and more...Breakfast burritos with a variety of meat and cheese options...and the Neptune Tuna Melt. This is just the beginning of many delicious options. They have vegan and gluten free options as well.

The Campbell's are still hands on, and most days you will find Jen in the kitchen, with an excellent and dedicated staff, creating the food and ambience that keeps locals and visitors coming through the door. The patio will be open for summer and is a wonderful spot to enjoy your meal.
