Ski Season is here! 2017/2018 season begins over the holiday weekend.

Recent storms have brought new snow to the Sierras, bringing an early start to the ski season. The record snowfall last year has many speculating on what this year will bring, and it seems we are off to a good start.

The storm this weekend started with high winds and up to 3 foot waves on the lake. Surf's up! Chain controls have lifted and the skiers are arriving.

Nine resorts opened by the Thanksgiving weekend, including Squaw Alpine, Heavenly, Boreal, Northstar and Kirkwood. Many of the resorts have new upgrades. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted a La Nina winter advisory for the 2017/2018 winter. Storms to date have been moderate, but many believe it will be another fantastic year of heavy snow.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows formally announced the plan to connect the Village at Squaw Valley to the base area at Alpine with the California Express Gondola, slated to open before the 2019/2020 winter season. The upper mountain at Squaw this morning showed the results of the recent snow and snow making operations.
