Snow Fest 2017 continues after awesome Groove Foundry launch

The concert Thursday night at Garwoods to open Snow Fest, featuring Groove Foundry, was a huge success. The band had the crowd on their feet and a great time was had by all. If you missed this great performance, look for a future post with details on their next shows in mid-April at Bar of America in Truckee and at Northstar. The parade through Tahoe City Saturday was a Festival favorite as well, with many local organizations participating. It will be repeated in Kings Beach on Saturday, March 11th at 11:30am.

On Wednesday, March 8th from 12pm-7pm, Truckee River Winery on Brockway in Truckee will host Wine and Ice. This annual ice carving competition is a fun time. You can watch local ice-carvers transform huge blocks of ice into art while enjoying the music of DJ Chango. More information is available at  http://www.truckeeriverwinery.com

Other upcoming highlights include the Blake Beeman music festival at Blue Agave on Thursday March 11 from 7-9pm, the Bridgetender Ribfest Friday March 10 from 5-9pm, and a pancake breakfast before the parade in Kings Beach at the North Tahoe Events Center from 8:30-10:30 am. The final day of the festival is Sunday, March 12, and will feature a snow sculpture contest. Teams need to register in advance, and the $10 entry fee includes a meal and a beer. The final event is the Tahoe Donner Iditarun at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski area, where dogs of all sizes are timed pulling a weighted sled down a chute. Signups are at 12pm with the run starting at 1pm.
