Tahoe City Winter Sports Park

If you are looking for a great place the entire family will enjoy, check out the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park. It is located near the ‘Y’ in Tahoe City, behind the Save Mart.

During the summer, the area serves as a golf course. During the winter, it becomes a winter wonderland with an array of winter sports activities that even the family dog can enjoy.

Visitors can explore four kilometers of cross-country ski trails, an ice-skating rink, snowshoeing, sledding and a small sled hill for young children. Parents can view the ice rink from an indoor restaurant and bar that features Chicken Pho, breakfast burritos and paninis. You will even find tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches to warm you up after skiing and skating.

They offer both x-country ski rentals and snowshoe rentals on site. The best part of visiting the Tahoe City Sports Park is that it is also dog friendly. Trails are groomed 7 days per week and park access for the community doesn’t require reservations as long as you have your own equipment.

For the ice-rink, sledding, equipment rentals for skiing and snowshoeing, you will need reservations. They do allow a limited number of walk-ups, but they cannot guarantee space will be available. You will need to check in 15 minutes prior to your session time.

Equipment Rentals

Cross country skis, snowshoes, sleds, ice skates, and skating aids are available to rent online with your reservation.

Sledding

Their family friendly sled hill is located adjacent to beautiful Lake Tahoe. Spend a session sliding and laughing on a man-made sled hill. Disc rental is included with the purchase of your sled hill session. No outside sleds are permitted.

Snowshoeing

This fun winter adventure has a very small learning curve and you will be out exploring on the snow in no time. They offer snowshoes in a variety of sizes for adults and children and are available to rent when you reserve your snowshoeing session.

Skiing

Experience the thrill of gliding on snow. Their groomed cross country ski trails wind around 4km of meadow terrain with views of Lake Tahoe. Trails are groomed daily with both traditional cross country ski tracks and wide lane for skate skiing.

Ice Skating

The Tahoe City Winter Sports Park has a wonderful Ice Rink, which is an excellent way to enjoy the winters at Lake Tahoe.  Skating teaches balance, improves strength and encourages kids, and adults, to keep trying.
