Tahoe storm 2017 rages

Tahoe has been inundated by this severe winter storm kicking off the New Year 2017. After 6 plus feet of snow, the rain came, causing major flooding. Here in Tahoe city the runoff from the golf course flowed through the Save Mart lots and across highway 89, creating a river that made its way through the parking lot shared by The River Grill and the Dam Cafe, and into the Truckee River. Local residents and friends of the owners came to help divert the flow and minimize damage. Jakes on the lake was flooded after the roof leaked, and is closed indefinately. Blizzard and white out conditions are projected the next 4 to 5 days and emergency preparedness precautions are strongly advised.
The view from the office has changed a bit since the last post. We are riding out the storm urge people to stay safe and warm.
