The Tour of California Comes Back to Lake Tahoe!

The tour started today in San Diego and last year’s winner, Peter Sagan, won the first stage.   It’s wonderful to see the tour come back to the lake. While it’s not on the North Shore this year, a successful stage of the tour brings international attention to the Tahoe Basin and increases our changes of this world famous race again being scheduled again in North Tahoe after having to be canceled due to snow in 2011. Stage 5 will see riders go from the beautiful vineyards of Lodi on a long gradual ascent to an uphill finish in South Lake Tahoe. This stage will reach a peak elevation of 8,600 feet - the highest in race history. The ride is essentially a 130-mile climb that gains in elevation from 50 feet to 6,650 at the finish.
